Apple CarPlay® vs. Android Auto
Both systems offer hands-free smartphone integration and access to apps for music, maps, messaging, and more! Each offers their slight benefits, such as Android Auto offers more messaging options with other apps. In contrast, Apple CarPlay® offers easier music browsing. They are both going to provide ease and convenience during your Newport Beach and Costa Mesa commutes. The main difference between Audi Apple CarPlay® and Audi Android Auto is simple; Apple CarPlay® is for iPhones, while Android Auto™ is compatible with Android phones from makers like Samsung, Google, LG, Nexus, and more.
Audi Apple CarPlay® Setup
With Audi Apple CarPlay®, there are two ways in which you can pair your phone with your vehicle, depending on the model year and vehicle you have:
Wireless Apple CarPlay®
- Activate your Bluetooth®, WiFi, and Siri on your iPhone.
- Start your Audi and keep your vehicle in "Park."
- Press "Bluetooth®" then "Phone" "Connect Mobile Device" on your Audi touchscreen. At that point, the system will search for compatible devices.
- Select your phone and confirm the PIN matches on both devices.
- Next, on your iPhone, you'll need to select "Pair" then "Allow" and then "Use CarPlay."
- Your Audi touchscreen should then prompt you. Select "Apple CarPlay®" then "Yes, agree" and then "Apple CarPlay®."
- You have successfully paired your phone and vehicle, and Apple CarPlay® will launch whenever you're in your vehicle with your device.
Standard Apple CarPlay®
- Activate your Bluetooth®, WiFi, and Siri on your iPhone.
- Plug your iPhone into the USB slot in the center console using an approved USB-to-Lightning cable.
- Once prompted by your Audi touchscreen, select "Apple CarPlay®" and then, "Yes, agree."
- Select "Allow" if prompted by your iPhone.
- You have successfully paired your phone and vehicle, and Apple CarPlay® will activate whenever you plug-in your iPhone.
Audi Android™ Auto Setup
Equally simple in setup is the Android Auto™ app. Simply follow the quick instructions below:
- Activate Bluetooth® and ensure the Android Auto™ app downloads to your phone.
- Plug your Android device into the USB port in the center console using an approved USB cable.
- Select "Android Auto" and then "Yes, agree" when prompted on your Audi touchscreen.
- You should then receive a prompt on your Android device; select "Continue."
- You have successfully paired your phone and vehicle, and Android Auto™ will activate when you plug-in your Android device.
