Audi Flip Key Fob Battery Replacement (Older Models)

  1. Older Audi models with the flip key will utilize two 1620 batteries.

  2. Utilize a flathead screwdriver to carefully separate the two halves of the key.

  3. The half of the key fob that doesn't hold the flip key will feature a battery cover.

  4. Carefully utilize the screwdriver to separate the battery cover from the fob.

  5. Remove the old 1620 batteries and replace them with two new 1620 batteries.

  6. Snap the cover back in place.

  7. Place the two halves of the key fob back together.

Audi Flip Key Fob Battery Replacement (Newer Models)

  1. Locate a new CR2032 battery.

  2. Flip open the Audi metal key with the key release button.

  3. Locate the small notch inside the key compartment with the metal key flipped open.

  4. Carefully use a small flathead screwdriver to pop open the battery cover in the small notch.

  5. Once it's popped open, gently pry the cover from the back where the metal keyring loop is located.

  6. Once the cover is off, remove the old CR2032 battery and replace it with a new one, taking note of the positive side facing up.

  7. Gently place the cover back onto the key fob, noting that the plastic notches are lined up in the proper position.

  1. Find a new CR2032 battery.

  2. Remove the metal key blade from the shell.

  3. There will be a small notch where the metal key blade is located.

  5. Carefully rotate the screwdriver to pop open the key fob shell.

  6. Remove the old CR2032 battery and replace it with the new one.

  7. Carefully snap the cover back into place.
